The Great Schism in America today
This is the Great Schism in America today.
For many people here in the United States, the year 2020 has been a most tumultuous year of never ending strife, political chaos, system threats, system warnings, noise, distractions, deaths and existential threats all served daily in several choices of soups. As far as this young nation has been in existence, it feels in some respects to have been a most troublesome year. Although politics has mostly to do with it, it was not just politics, there were a lot more fundamental aspects of life as an American that were at the root of this unrest. Other smaller, but yet significant part of an American life, also contributed with the uneasy feelings that prevailed amongst most people living in this country. For me, as well as for tens of millions of people, it has really troubled my spirit. The pains of each one of these events and experiences were like being a chop of ice chalked away piece by piece by a sharp instrument. What was worst is the fact that you could not get away from it, it was there, everywhere you go, it was there as persistent reminder in you psyche.
I am referring of course to the events that took place in the year 2020, dominated by politics, with main instigator of these events being the President of the United States himself. Every day was a precedent of nonsensical things, childish things, yet dangerous things that are insane by nature, and really caused you to be worried for the country as a whole. And this matters a lot, whether one realized it or not, because the truth is that as the nation goes, so goes the individuals living in the country. What happens to the larger piece affects all the smaller pieces or individual components of the whole. There is something to be said about the rich, super rich, in this respect, because they are in reality not concerned nor would be affected nearly as much as the 200 million plus of the average American.
Events that are happening daily is very important to pay attention to, particularly if those events are unprecedented. That is because those events form the basis of the future. The same said events act as a platform for continued heightened events, all of which has tremendous consequences. In 2020, we were constantly subjected to either remarks or comments made on Twitter that were anoying, or an important government policy announced through Twitter. Everything Trump has done as President has had a direct damage on the social norms, the fabrics of the nation, which were built over two centuries. It is not just his immigration policy, but who we were as a nation. A fabric that was so skillfully woven by the ancestors of this country now has turned into a very divided country.
The people or the supporters of President Trump overwhelmingly were whites, white man and women. Some say that they bear resemblance to the Old Confederacy, in their thinking, and in their politics. Everyone else who did not support President Trump were enlightened and well educated people from many backgrounds. One of the most important tenets and or beliefs of Trump’s opposition is the belief that the United States was founded by immigrants and that indeed it is a country built by immigrants. So, we should not be scorning immigrants or blame them for whatever problems that the old Confederacy vehemently blamed them for. It is a strange and peculiar thing, Trump’s supporters vehemently blamed immigrants for amongst other things, taking their jobs away, good paying jobs, their lifestyles and most importantly what they referred to as “White Priviledge”.
In reality, what immigrants have done is work hard, working labourously is the most important trademark of immigrants in the US. They all adopted that trademark because they understood the American system of capitalism. Immigrants also understood and learned quickly what could be the consequences of not adopting that mentality. So, in addition to working hard, immigrants are wise, they not only worked hard and developed a strong work ethic, they also learned all aspects of capitalism itself and they embraced it. In doing so, they adopted all the tenets of capitalism and made it advantageous to them, while simultaneously continuing a strong work ethic. The people of the Confederacy meanwhile continued to enjoy without labor or care they so-called system of White Priviledge that they have implemented in American society. That system of White Priviledge was so strongly implemented that it was incarnated into they psyche and the mindset of not only the whites who were the beneficiary, but also into the mindset and understanding of everyone else. And one of the things that made this so-called system of White Priviledge so effective is that it was very subtle. It did not need to be said because otherwise it could encounter legal problems and challenges, and that was not desired at all. So, instead, this subtle system was implemented effectively by the powers that be, the Real Masters of Capitalism, the group with the true power of capital.
The Capitalists who themselves were White but did not care at all about being White, or the affinities that groups such as Old Confederacy has put on being White, decided early in the 1990’s that the time was right to get rid themselves of the accomodations provided to Old Confederacy. This accomodation of implementing White Priviledge, they felt, no longer served their interests or their purpose. They judged that they were in a position to counter Old Confederacy and implement a New World Order, to borrow the phrase from an ex-President of the United States, George Herbert Walker Bush. What took place was that in this New World Order, they would seek out to promote their interests, their ambitions and goals, wherever that took them, domestic or global, and domestic it was not. So, systematically and strategically, they began to implement in mass scale the policy of outsourcing. Outsourcing is a strategy that has had devastating impact on the US economy, affecting tens of millions of American families. Indeed, at least half of the 300 plus millions of the US population has been negatively impacted by outsourcing within the past 30 years. Many millions of families are still feeling the damaging impact of outsourcing on the American landscape. Therein lies the root cause of the great divide that exists today within the population of the United States.
This root cause was used effectively by candidate Donald Trump in 2016 in his campaign for the Presidency of the United States. Candidate Trump spoke very plainly and said repeatedly that this was the binding cause of the grievances of the millions of Americans who supported him. While the equally numbered plus 3 millions more of Americans who opposed Donald Trump don’t dispute the underlying fact of job losses, they do dispute that immigrants were to blame. In fact this group of enlightened Americans of many backgrounds argue on the contrary that immigrants are in fact the victims, who has endured harsh conditions and ill treatments in the US. This is the Great Schism in America today, that has caused a great rupture in American unity and their sense of purpose.
It is however a lot more complex than that. The fact is that all factions have a point, all existing at some time. Immigrants are not to blame for Outsourcing, the group of people directly responsible for Outsourcing are the Global Capitalist Whites who are the opposites of “Petit Blanc”. They are not Little Whites but instead are ” Gros Blancs” or Big Whites. The traditional immigrants have made the hard choice of leaving their country and adopt America as their country. That is the traditional immigrants, there is a new group of people however that immigrates to the US with no intention of staying permanently. And those are the people that are utilized by the Gros Blancs or Big Whites to their advantage. The consequences of that is to boil down and fume gasoline on old wounds, old divisions and battle lines.
